How to give a digital gift without making it feel like an attachment

Say why you chose this date. “I made this for the evening we first met” gives the recipient something to recognize before they open a PDF. A birth map might instead come with a note about the day the family grew.

In KeptStars, customize the map, review the summary and pay as a guest using your email. The final artwork is then prepared. Check its proof and approve it before downloading the PDF and PNG. Allow time for this step; there is no guaranteed instant-delivery deadline.

Open both files yourself. Check spelling, the date, the place and whether the dedication fits. The small designer preview is useful while editing, but it is not the file to give or print.

Keep an unchanged copy of the original downloads. If a messaging app compresses an image, you can still send the full file later.

If you are together

Show the artwork on a screen, then give a short handwritten note. Explain that they can choose whether and where to print it. That leaves room for their taste in frames and the space they have.

If you are apart

Email the files with your personal message, or send them through a private sharing method you already use together. Make sure the recipient can open the attachment or shared file. Avoid making a public album simply to deliver one gift.

If you want a physical reveal

You can print a small note describing the gift while arranging the full-size print later. Be clear about what is ready now. A home-printed preview should not be described as a professionally printed final piece.

The PDF is intended for printing. The PNG is useful for viewing and can also be printed when its pixel dimensions suit the size. Both are included in a KeptStars digital purchase.

Your private order link provides access to your order and its actions. Send the downloaded artwork to the recipient instead of forwarding that link or the entire receipt. Store the order email where you can find it if you need support.

Here is an original example: “This is the sky for the night we met in Madrid. I wanted to keep that date somewhere we could see it. The files are yours to keep; we can choose a frame together.”
